I’m always thrilled to be working with new moms to capture those precious moments of their newborn baby. As a photographer specializing in newborn photography, I understand the importance of ensuring your little one’s comfort and safety during the photoshoot. It’s my priority to create a warm and cozy environment that allows your baby to relax and be themselves. Here are few tips I’ve learned along the way to help capture those stunning and heartwarming photographs.
Timing and comfort
First and foremost, let’s talk about the ideal timing for the photoshoot. The best time to capture those adorable newborn poses is within the first two weeks of your baby’s life. During this period, they tend to sleep more and are generally more cooperative. To keep them at ease, we’ll schedule the session around their nap-time.
Creating a comfortable environment is essential. We’ll maintain the room temperature between 75-80°F (24-27°C) to ensure your baby feels snug and warm, just like in the womb. I’ll bring along a space heater or heating pad to provide additional coziness, but rest assured, I’ll keep it away from the baby to ensure their safety.
Plan for Feeding and Comfort Breaks
Feeding and comfort breaks are crucial for keeping your baby content. Before we begin, make sure your little one is well-fed and burped. This will help prevent any fussiness due to hunger or discomfort during the session. We’ll plan for regular breaks to give your baby time to rest and for us to make adjustments without disrupting their tranquility.
Opt for Soft and Snug Wraps
Swaddling is a wonderful technique to keep newborns comfortable, and I have soft and stretchy wraps that will gently hold your baby while still allowing their movements. Safety is my top priority, so I’ll have an assistant or a parent nearby at all times to support the baby during any poses, especially those involving props or elevated surfaces. I’m well-trained in using composite techniques for certain poses, ensuring your baby’s safety at all times.
Choose Soft and Padded Props
Speaking of props, I have a selection of soft and padded items that will provide a cozy and secure surface for your baby. These props are clean and sanitized for your baby’s well-being, and we’ll use a washable fabric barrier between the baby and any surface for added hygiene.
Use White Noise or Soothing Sounds
During the photoshoot, I might use some white noise or soothing sounds to create a familiar and calming atmosphere for your baby. This gentle background noise mimics what they heard in the womb, helping to keep them relaxed throughout the session.
Remember, your baby’s comfort is the key to capturing those adorable, natural moments that you’ll cherish forever. I’m here to guide you through the process and ensure a successful and enjoyable photoshoot for you and your little one. Together, we’ll create beautiful and heartwarming photographs that will be treasured for generations to come. Let’s make some magical memories!
